Very nice job. I always felt the making of a good model to be the scratch built additions that give the kit a more realistic look and detail. But which way to the poker tables? Might I suggest you add scale figures of Bart and Bret Maverick for even more authenticity. But what puzzles me is how you propose to capture the White Whale on the Mississippi. Just where are the harpoons, Captain? And the whale boats. You must add the whale boats! Quote: “What do ye do when ye see a whale, men?” “Sing out for him!” was the impulsive rejoinder from a score of clubbed voices. “Good!” cried Ahab, with a wild approval in his tones; observing the hearty animation into which his unexpected question had so magnetically thrown them. “And what do ye next, men?” “Lower away, and after him!” “And what tune is it ye pull to, men?” “A dead whale or a stove boat!” ![]() |

Aha Ahab!* It is I Cap'n Ahab, Starbuck of the Battle Star Galactica No. 75.... Wait! No... Err... Of the lost whaleship Pequod, to warn ye of your continuing impetuous quest of the White Whale! Bowzie indeed! Its entirely sober I am, and a sober warning I give to ye. Keep thee a sharp look out for sandbars and under water rocky pinnacles and such on the Mississippi! But don't worry too much about the whales. But thinking on it a bit more... its a grand time thou wilt be having hunting said whale on such a finely built and entertaining craft. Much so more than on such a boring, conservative and biblical Quaker barque. Now... where's the rum? Why is the run always gone? *(pronounced aye-hab not ah-ha-b) ![]() |
